The Leeds Players support Hope Against Cancer at the Oakham Festival

18th May 2010

Tim Chambers returns for the fifth year with the Leeds Players to stage a musical variety performance in support of Hope Against Cancer.  Tim, who got down to the last thirty in BBC’s hunt for Joseph, will lead the former students of Leeds University, some of whom currently perform professionally on the West End stage, in a performance covering music and dance from Broadway to acoustic pop with a strong comedy element.

“These concerts have always been hugely popular and we are delighted to be returning for a fifth year.   As always part of the ticket price will be donated to Hope Against Cancer, our local cancer research charity, and the concert will be in loving memory of our dear family friends and lynchpins of the Oakham Festival, Sue Stephens and Jill Hewitt-Wall.  In addition, this year's concert will also be in memory of my Granny who died of cancer almost exactly one year ago.” Said Tim Chambers.

“We are delighted that Tim continues to support Hope Against Cancer with his concerts.  It is a great event which all ages can come together and enjoy.  Funds raised go directly to local cancer research to bring hope to many future cancer sufferers in Rutland and Leicestershire.” Said Wendi Stevens, Co-ordinator for Hope Against Cancer.

The concert is part of the Oakham Festival and will be held in the new auditorium at the Rutland County Museum in Oakham, starting at 5pm on Sunday June 20th.

Tickets are just £10 and will be available from May from Music & More on Melton Road in Oakham, or from the Oakham Festival website - http://www.oakhamfestival.co.uk/html/box_office.html
