VOLUNTEER FOR HOPE

As a small five person team we rely on a wonderful group of volunteers to help us raise the funds that we then put into life-changing, life-SAVING research and treatment at the Hope Cancer Trials Centre.

If you have a few hours to spare, we have a number of volunteer tasks that you could help us with. If you're a people person, you can have a lot of fun getting out and about, taking the Hope message with you; if you're a behind-the-scenes type, we have a range of office-based, admin or organisational tasks you can help with from your own home or at our office in Knighton, Leicester. If you're a mover and shaker in your village or local community, we'd love to use your contacts!

However you choose to help, we know that you'll get a great degree of satisfaction from doing your bit to help others - and we like to think that we're a nice, supportive 'family', so there's fun to be had, too!

Spread the word - become an Ambassador for Hope

We can find endless opportunities for people to tell clubs, communities, schools, etc. and the general public about the great work that Hope Against Cancer funds in Leicester's hopsitals and universities, and how that work provides Hope to the public of Leicestershire, Rutland and beyond in the battle against cancer! Are you the kind of person who can learn our story and help spread the word about us?

Those stands won't man themselves

We want to be more visible in more places, more often. Can you take one of our pop-up stands to a shopping centre, park, pub car-park, etc. in your part of our area? You can hand out literature, run a raffle, run a collection and answer questions about us!

Meet and greet

We host a small number of events and we always need people to staff those events, from coat-checkers to seat-pointer-outers to bar staff and waiters. Our last such event was the rather glittering Hope Opera Evening at Lumbers jewellers... we have outdoor fitness challenges and black-tie balls on the agenda for 2023!

Shake, rattle and roll

Okay, maybe not so much rolling... but we're often invited to have collection tins at events (Leicester City, the Tigers, the County cricket, Leicester Racecourse, Leicester Riders, etc.) or places (shopping malls, shopping centres) - and the collection tins need smiling, welcoming people to shake them and encourage further donations!

Be our person in Bruntingthorpe or Newtown Unthank

...or whichever part of Leicestershire, Rutland and the East Midlands that you happen to hail from! We want to have our leaflets in post offices, hairdressers, pubs, cafes, libraries, etc. throughout the area; fancy popping in to your local to ask if they'd have a Hope collection tin on the bar?; do you know someone at your local WI, U3A, golf club, etc. who'd be interested in one of our uniquely inspiring and emotionally-engaging talks? Could you round up your local friends to take on a fundraising challenge or event?

Offer us your skills

Do you have a particular skill set or talent that you think we could use? Could you run a facebook page? Are you a great envelope-stuffer? Are you a web developer? Do you enjoy driving around the area on errands? Who knows what you can do and like to do that we might need!
